House Layout
Contemporary 4,458 sq. ft., single-story design by architect and fine artist James Shay, FAIA.
4 bedrooms, 4½ baths, 2-car garage, guest wing and 7 patios/decks.
Carefully designed for the ridgetop site and anchored by the 30-foot specimen live oak over the lower patio, the house has extensive glass, patios and terraces with a panoramic view of San Francisco Bay and pristine Sugarloaf Mountain. The house features natural stone and wood textures, an extra-private guest wing which doubles as an ideal home office, permeable pavements and a “green” roof landscaped with native plants.
A walkway surfaced with decomposed granite circles the house and provides access to the Preserve trail system.
Dramatic circular formal entry enters into a stone-tiled gallery between the main and guest wings. A raised circular flagstone patio with an overhead trellis is entered via a mud room at the guest wing end of the gallery. Gallery also has a separate, less formal entry to auto court.
Open floorplan kitchen, dining and family room with indoor fireplace and media center with a 14-foot ceiling. A 33-foot long, 12-foot high wall of glass doors and windows opens onto a stone terrace. Wood floors. Half bath next to kitchen. Laundry room near garage entry.
